Quinta de Ramozeiros Red Reserve 2015

The Quinta de Ramozeiros Red Reserve 2015 displays an intense dark ruby colour and lets the nose perceive its succulent red grape fruit with a very light touch of esteva (an endogenous plant that grows near our vines). In your mouth it shows a complex structure that reveals a full intense wine, showing jammed red grapes and the softened tannins by a long lasting maturation in new French oak barrels and Portuguese oak barrels.

A wine of remarkable complexity that reflects the genuine character of the Douro Valley native grape varieties and terroir. It is also a reminder of the authenticity the brand Ramozeiros continuously pursues. Excellent to match all kinds of nicely cooked and seasoned meat dishes. As we say in Portuguese, this is a wine to “eat” which means it is a powerful wine, of which a glass can be enjoyed on its own.

The climate conditions of the farming year were certainly very much responsible for the harvest in 2013. The winter was dry and cold while there was some rain in April and also in May, the soil being very thirsty. Temperature values followed the average curve except for some surprisingly hot peaks in March, in April and May. In August temperatures were not high as we usually expect them to be and hotter days came in the beginning of September. There was rain at the end of September which came and helped ending a more balanced maturation of the grapes while we were getting ready for the harvest. To sum up nature did its role and we had to adjust management of the vineyards to soil and weather conditions, which has always been the rule.

On the whole, the 2013 vintage was a very good one but it’s always important to mention the remarkable role of the people who tirelessly work the whole year round and through made this and all our wines possible. Without them nature would surely play its role but the result would never be the same.

Ageing Curve
Bearing in mind the organoleptic characteristiques, ageing in bottle will be very positive for about 10 to 12 years.
Cellar Favorable Conditions
70% humidity and temperature at 14º-16ºC.

How to serve
Decant an hour prior to serving and allow the wine to breathe.  Serve at approximately 16º C.
